There was going to be an episode of BL8TN tomorrow.  But there's not.  I have to do some editing on this show, and didn't get done what I wanted to today.  And I have to bake cookies tonight for a coworker's going away party tonight.

So, next week folks!  I'll be discussing Anansi Boys with Diane - a listener that lives in London.

It's been a rough couple of weeks.  Thanks to those of you that were there for me - you don't know how much it meant.

Today's show is a long episode, so I keep the intro babble to a minimum.  Why is it long?  Because when you get four podcasters together in Skype to discuss the Nintendo DS, the conversations is fantastic!  I'm joined by Zach of the Geek Survival Guide, Doug from Geek Acres, and Christiana Ellis...the Sound of Awesome!

We mention a lot of games, and since I don't have an Amazon referring thingy, I'm not giving links, and so the only link I'm going to provide has to be one of the coolest sites ever!  The Pokemon Global Trade Station is the coolest, and I just spent 10 minutes watching Pokemon fly around the globe instead of finishing these notes.

Promo from this week - 3 Heroes Podcast.

Coming soon - a feedback episode - where I'll go over the voice mails, e-mails, and yes comments!  Libsyn hasn't been sending my comment e-mails, so I'll go over the comments for the past couple of episodes.  And who knows, there might be some surprises as well.  You can leave feedback by leaving a comment on the site, sending me e-mail at mainthepa @gmail.com or calling my voice mail line at (206)338-3942.

Have a great week everyone, and for those in the US, have a very Happy Thanksgiving.

P.S.  I was lucky enough to do the intro for Episode 18 of 7th Son Book Three: Destruction.  If you found your way from there - welcome!

Lazy show notes - welcome to the second special edition of BL8TN.  Why is it special?  Because my son joins me for a short media review of Bridge to Terebithia.  That alone is special.  That and I play and read all the feedback that I couldn't fit into last week's episode.

And we end the show with a song from the band Ceann with the song "Pretty on the Inside".

Links to follow after I've gotten over the day that I've had.  It's been a day.  And a half.  Literally.  I worked a day and a half today.  And had to deal with bad traffic.  And...but you don't want to hear about that.  I think I'm going to have a drink.

Have a good one guys - new episode in two weeks...what will it be?  I have no idea as of yet!

Wow - these show notes are going to be long - so for right now they are going to be be lazy.  And here's a warning guys - the show today is of a slightly different format.  It's really long, and there is no feedback section.  I'm going to try to come out with a feedback special edition in the next week or so - life willing.  Stuff has been very hard the past two weeks - but I want to keep getting some sort of a show coming out.

So what's on deck for today?  Well, Heather Welliver and Marc Bailey of GrailWolf's Geek Life join me to talk about new fall tv.  And TV in general.  We cover just about everything, so there is bound to be something you will find interesting.

There will be more extensive show notes, but for right now - a big shout out to the guys at the ScotchCast, who recently played my promo.

And on November 1st, I want you to check out Playing For Keeps, the latest offering from Mur Lafferty.  Now if you have been following me on Twitter, you will know that I'm her Baker-at-arms.  So go check her out - you don't want me to have to bring out the flaming spatula - do you?

If you can get feedback in before the weekend, I'll include it in the special edition.  E-mail me at mainthepa@gmail.com, leave a comment here, or send me voice mail at 206-338-3940.

And as always, the intro and outtro music is by Peanut Butter and Julie.  Look them up in Itunes, and buy a song or two.

Welcome to Episode 17!

A big huge thanks to J.C. Hutchins from 7th Son, and Steve Eley from Escape Pod who played my new promo that was released last week!  And if you are here as a result of that promo – welcome – pull up a chair, put your feet up, and have a great time.

This week, I talk about new fall TV, and plug a post on my LJ where I talk about the shows that are coming back that I'm still going to be watching.  And if you want to get the best scoop on the new gendre shows this season, check out Grail Wolf's Geek Life – my new favorite podcast!

It was Nintendo week, with me taking the new Revolution out for a spin, and acquiring a DS, with which I've had much fun.  I have to thank Steve from the Wicked Good Podcast and Christiana Ellis for  the fantastic game selections!  And looking toward Christmas – we are going to be getting a subscription to Gamefly.

Promo for Christiana's new project – which she just announced is Space Casey!

The Christiana and I talked about the movie Labrynth, and kept the coments on a certain package to a minimum.

Labrynth on IMDB and Wikipedia

The Charles from Desparate Husbands sends me three voicemails.  And the question of whether or not to see the movie Bridge to Terebithia is asked.  What do you think?

As always, you can leave a comment here at the website, send me an e-mail at mainthepa@gmail.com or call the voice mail line at (206)338-3942.  Let me know what you think of the show, recommend something for a media review, or just spout off about what ever you want!

The intro and outro music is by Peanut Butter and Julie.  Go give them some love on Itunes.

And next week – we have more voice mail from Charles – and he joins me to talk about the book The Golden Compass.

And in other news - if anyone is interested in hearing the song I started to sing during the media review in my last show - the one called Touch My Ass - call my voice mail line at (206)338-3942 and request to hear it.  If I get enough calls, I'll play it in full in the next episode.  It's a great Peanut Butter and Julie song.

Ahoy, welcome to Show 16, and since it's Talk Like a Pirate Day, You get show notes in a modified pirate speak!  Avast!  Today's show features a Media Review that will definitely make you go ARGGH when Addison and I talk about the 80's film Real Genius.  Why argh? Because I forgot my notes, and what follows is a sad example of MA without her notes.  But there is laughing, and there is silliness as I try to recreate a scene from the movie.  So enjoy me hearties!

Podcamp Philly
Doug from Geek Acres
Ken Newquist – Nuketown Radio
Andy from the Andy Cast
BUCKET
Transformers on IMDB and yeah, it didn't suck
JC Hutchins and SOLIDARITY (incidentally, my goal is 250 words per day)

Linux and Feisty Fawn
Sending out the call – can someone get me instructions for Feisty Fawn to help me install my wireless card for the laptop I installed it on.  The card – a Linksys  WPC11v4  and the computer is a Dell Inspiron 4000.  Oh, and I need help installing Skype as well – when I go to open the install package – some library is missing, and I couldn't even Google for it.  More later on the specific error message I received.

I will be lending my voice to Chris Lester's Metamor City, which is coming very soon – make sure you subscribe so you don't miss anything!

Addison's MySpace page
Real Genius on IMDB

Promo from Christiana Ellis

Feedback
e-mail from Rebecca, where I rant about the MOVIE THAT SHALL NOT BE NAMED and I won't link to it.
Voice mail from Wendell – where I scold him for naming the Video Game System that Shall Not Be Named (but I'll link to that)
Voice mail from Doug
Links to my photos from Podcamp Philly

I'm attempting to post these show notes before work, but I have to get myself and one kid ready, not to mention fill out forms for school.  So these show notes may be lazier than others.  But onward, ho!

A note - if you haven't seen a show drop from Leann in a couple of weeks - go to her site and check out her new feed - she had to change it, and you may not have gotten the update.

Today is a special episode of Better Late Than Never.  I'm mirroring the segment I did with Leann Mabry that is on Tag In the Seam this week.  This is because I spent last week in Atlanta, and still haven't managed to catch up with everything.

But!  You won't have to wait two weeks for a new episode.  Episode 15 will be released next Wednesday, and will feature a media review of the movie Stardust.  As well the normal feedback section, and a short overview of my vacation.

So, enjoy, and I'll see you next week!

And I've asked a question - What do you prefer to do first - watch the movie or read the book?  I'm mixed on the subject.  Let me know what you think about this and the show by either leaving a comment here at the website, or by sending me an e-mail at mainthepa@gmail.com or by calling the voice mail number at 206-338-3942.

Of course, the intro and outro music is by Peanut Butter and Julie.  Look for them on CD Baby and on Itunes.

And I'm a finalist for a Parsec Award in the Best Reality Podcast category.  Look at MA being completely amazed, because I'm in some pretty illustrious company.

Hi Everyone,

We have a longer show for you today, primarily because my friend and I are talking about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.  Yes, there are spoilers, so the listener beware.  However, I put the review at the very end of the podcast, so you can still listen to everything else before turning it off.  Other than that - it's a basic episode, monologue at the beginning, feedback section, and then the review.

Here are some of the things I mentioned today...

Podholes (Thanks again Mike and Steve!)
Sennheiser HD280 Pro Headphones
Lean Mabry from Tag In the Seam

Music at the end of the monologue was courtesy of Jack Mangan, thanks so much Jack!

Hi Everyone,

Looking at the clock, there is no chance I will have the episode up on time.  I need to figure out how to reencode my file.  It's a whole getting used to the new programs under the Mac to do what Audacity did on my PC.

So, I'm very sorry - I will work on it tomorrow at some point.

And now I'm going to rant.  I like Garageband very much.  But it won't record at the bitrate that I want it to.  And I then need to go and encode an mp3 file in Itunes.  And while I'm ranting - Itunes for the Mac seems to think I'm not to be trusted to change certain attributes on the tags.  This makes me annoyed.  Because I may not understand the ins and outs of RSS, just enough to be dangerous, but not enough to do it on my own.  So, I'm still muddling through issues on my Mac, which I still love.

And Tony Mast rocks - he has a little message for you.  Thanks everyone.  The episode will be up as soon as I can get it up.  And in the meantime - go visit Tony at his various podcasts....

Sci-Fi Smackdown
Tony's Losing It

The episode will be up in the next couple of days....

Dear Listeners,

This past two weeks were difficult ones - filled with all sorts of technical difficulties.  As a result, I've enlisted Doug from Geek Acres and Dani in NC to do my work for me this week.  There is still an opening monologue and a feedback segment, but they are providing the actual content for me.  My great thanks to them.  These show notes are a little more wordy this time, because even though I went on for over 10 minutes in the opening, there is a lot that I forgot.

I've also learned a little more about Garage Band, and was even able to place a sound effect in the podcast!  Watch out - there are going to be more - just you wait and see.  The program is slowly revealing itself to me as I go along - and I always maintain that USING a program  is the best way to learn it.  So, I hope you like the episode.

As always, here is a list of links to things that I mentioned in the show.

Note:  I will not be adding any new friends to my Live Journal until after the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, because there are some that are intent on spoiling people, and that just isn't cool.  So, wait till Sunday, and I'll add you.  And as always, if you want to add me on Twitter, leave me a direct message that you are a listener - I've been getting a lot of spam adds over there.  And no one likes friends that spam.

Hang on to your hats, Better Late than Never has gone through a reboot.  I'm MA, your hostess, and I'm going to be casting on my own - with a little help from a friend or two.  In this episode, there is the start of an essay series called Tales of a Geeky Single Mom, with musical accompaniment by Jack Mangan.  Much thanks to Jack for letting use his music for this segment.

Next up, we have another list - this time of lessons I've learned this week.  They deal with podcasting, learning the ins and outs of mixer boards, feisty dwarves with battle axes, and smiling.

Billibub Battings and the Case of the Singing Sword

Steve Eley from Escape Pod joins me for the media review and we chat for a bit about the 80's classic The Neverending Story, and it's sequel.  Steve's various ventures:

Escape Pod
Psuedopod
Podholes

And finally, link love for the ever important bumpers and promos:

Tony's Losing It - and in the best way possible!
Doug from Geek Acres - mentor and excellent friend, and fellow Guild Wars nut,
Mur Laffterty - Why yes, I am her baker, and damn proud of it!
The Wicked Good Podcast - listen to new parents Steve and Maureen tell about their wacky adventures in New England.

And finally - I need a username, because I'm going to be joining OKCupid.  Leave your username suggestions in the comments, or you can e-mail them to me at mainthepa@gmail.com.  OR, you can use the shiny new voice mail number!  That's (206) 338-3942.  I'd love to know  what you think of the new format.

To see what I'm up to when I'm not behind a microphone, you can catch me at Twitter and on Livejournal.

This episode is all about goodbyes.  We say au revoir to one show and sing "See You in September" to another.

You may notice that the show notes rely heavily on Wikipedia.  That is because Dani wrote them and Wikipedia is her first choice for TV info.  If you have a problem with that, give her a good tongue-lashing -- she's been begging for it ;-).

We chat about the role games have played in our lives, both pulp and digital.  There is also a short game review at the end.  Since this is a bit of a rambling episode, we don't have many links to specific games. Instead we are offering a few general links to gaming sites that we like:

Check out BoardGameGeek for all the boardgame info you could want

Go to Home of the Underdogs if you want to find some cool abandonware

Welcome to our little show!  If you know us, thanks for following us from our previous gigs.  If you don't know us, pull up a comfy chair so we can get acquainted.  This episode is a short one to let you know why we decided to add our voices to the podcast roar.
